Zbox Sff Fusion E350 DDR3-1066 Reviews
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Great BareBones Box, March 21, 2012 By Quark Master (Chicago) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Zbox Sff Fusion E350 DDR3-1066 (Personal Computers) Probably the easiest barebones PC I've ever put together. Far simpler than a Shuttle (my previous favorite).
Of course, smaller/less expandable too, but...lots and lots of ports so who cares.
Bought this to be a basic domain controller. 8 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD, plug in my USB CD, connect to KVM, plug in power, turn on.
Amazingly fast boot and load of W2K8R2x64 CD. Faster than about any computer I've done W2K8R2 on. File decompression seemed a bit slower than normal, but everything else whizzed along at a great pace. I'm used to i7's and Xeon equivalents, so that's impressive.
On first logon, a good amount of devices had been found, including wifi.
Added driver CD, and default install program was broken, had no working selections, probably freaked out by W2K8R2.
Drivers, however were all there on disk so manual load where possible the setup program...probably for the same W2K8R2 thing,
the Catalyst driver didn't want to much... Read more
4 of 5 people found the following review helpful Lovely device if used within its limits, March 14, 2012 By Jeremy (Madison, AL USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Zbox Sff Fusion E350 DDR3-1066 (Personal Computers) My requirements were for a low power general surfing/webchat and entertainment box I could leave on all the time. After much research, I went with this box with the AMD Fusion chipset over the similarly-priced Atom version because the general compute performance is supposed to be around twice as fast. Some reviewers emphasize that the Atom/ION platform has better graphics acceleration, so weigh your exact requirements carefully; whichever one you go with you will have it more-or-less max'd out all the time.
It is small but not tiny, slightly larger than say an external 3.5" drive in a case. It is nicely made, though, and installing the memory and drive is easy. If you have trouble booting from a USB drive, stuff the drive in a different socket.
I loaded mine with 8GB of DDR3, it is so cheap I thought it couldn't hurt to load it up. Maybe it helps a bit but I have never seen the System Monitor go over 1GB, so maybe you can save some money with a couple of 2GB... Read more
Description needs changing, April 11, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Zbox Sff Fusion E350 DDR3-1066 (Personal Computers) Note - This is the second one of these I have purchased, and REALLY like the concept.
However, the listing states that it comes with a 250GB Hard drive and 8 GB RAM - this is not correct. The machine comes bare bones, and you have to add your own RAM and Hard drive.
