I'm not sure why the reviewer who gave it 1-star rating is bringing up something that had nothing to do with the actual hard drive. This drive is fantastic, very reliable and I got a great price on it despite of the recent disaster in Thailand. It has more space than the average user will ever need and if you do, just buy another one : Western Digital has been making fantastic drives for many years and this one is no exception. After some concern as to the compatibility of this HDD with my 24 inch (model 7,1) iMac, I'm completely happy. It replaced the original 250GB that came with the computer, and was immediately recognized and reformatted to Mac OS Journaled. The drive is quiet, and I'm excited to have so much space! I installed it in my "Ubuntu 12.04" home PC. It's very silent and also has good performance. I would have liked it bring their own cables :).
